Coming Soon: Vivian Lasley-Bibbs Health Equity Fellowship Program

The Vivian Lasley-Bibbs Health Equity fellowship program was established to develop the next generation of public health leaders who have demonstrated academic excellence, a passion for health equity, and a desire to work in governmental public health settings. ​

The Fellowship provides Master-level public health students with an 8-week immersive virtual learning experience.

Fellows are paired with a State Office of Minority Health/Health Equity to receive real-world application through a capstone project, networking and mentoring, and group didactic sessions.

Program Highlights:

  • Experience 8 weeks of immersive work and learning under the supervision and mentorship of a State Office of Minority Health/Health Equity officer.
  • Gain hands-on experience working in a governmental public health setting.
  • Collaborate on projects with real-world applications addressing social justice and the root causes of health disparities.
  • Receive paid compensation during the 8-week full-time fellowship (320 hours)
  • Participate in weekly Group learning sessions focused on workforce readiness in governmental settings and Health Equity.
  • Collaboration on a NASOMH-guided National Health Equity Initiative.

Who Can Apply:

  • Graduate Students in a master’s or doctoral program. Master’s students must have completed their first year of study.
  • Early-career professionals with 1-3 years of research or evaluation experience.

When and Where:

  • Applications will open on the ASTHO website in late January, with a link from the NASOMH website. Stay tuned.
  • The internship period is from June 2 through July 31.
  • All activities will be virtual, with the possibility of an optional, in-person presentation in the fall (after the fellowship has ended), pending funding.
