Dear Colleagues,

The States, Islands, and Territories Health Equity – Community of Practice (SITHE-COP) invites you to join us for a meeting on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 2:00–3:00 p.m. EST. The December meeting will focus on discussion of “Developing SMARTIE Objectives: Experiences and Challenges.”

We will discuss the definition and development of SMARTIE health equity objectives, real-world examples, and barriers and challenges in implementation, and share member experiences in these areas. Questions for discussion by SITHE-COP members will include:

 How do you involve community members/stakeholders in developing objectives?
 What data and metrics have you found useful in tracking progress towards equity goals?
 How have you addressed challenges to implementing SMARTIE goals?

Directors and staff from State, Island, and Territory health departments, Offices of Minority Health, Offices of Health Equity, and any other offices that are responsible for strategic health improvement plans are invited to participate.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH), with the support of the National Association of State Offices of Minority Health (NASOMH) and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), formed the States, Islands, and Territories Health Equity-Community of Practice (SITHE-COP). The SITHE-COP focuses on sustained engagement of States, Islands, and Territories in capacity building activities and peer-to-peer knowledge exchange for developing and incorporating health disparity/health equity objectives.
