The American Medical Association (AMA) has announced the adoption of several new public health policies aimed at strengthening health outcomes, supporting prevention efforts, and addressing emerging health challenges across the country. These policies, approved during the AMA’s 2025Interim Meeting, reflect the organization’s ongoing commitment to advancing evidence-based public health strategies and improving health for diverse communities.
The newly adopted measures address a range of public health priorities, including expanded access to mental and behavioral health services, improved approaches to chronic disease prevention, and strengthened responses to emerging infectious diseases. Additional actions focus on issues such as firearm injury prevention, maternal health, climate-related health concerns, and support for public health data modernization. The AMA stated that these policies are intended to help promote safer, healthier communities and to guide physicians, health systems, and public health organizations as they respond to evolving health needs.
